The last two weeks where nicely busy for us. A client installation of CrowdWorx launched last week and we had invitations to various conferences where we gave presentations about Prediction Markets and their applications.

The first conference on 6th Oct. took place in Bad Homburg, Germany. This was quite exciting, the largest German knowledge management conference, the KnowTech. People had some degree of knowledge about Crowdsourcing and Enterprise 2.0 so it wasn’t a big leap for them towards understanding Collective Intelligence and how CrowdWorx Prediction Markets can bring it about. One participant pointed out that wikis often have a hard time in business settings. The simple truth, it seems to be, is that people would not want to share this knowledge, which they acquired over many years of hard work, in a wiki because that knowledge is like an insurance against being fired. Of course, the estend of this ‘problem’ differs companies and depends on corporate culture. Happily, in Prediction Markets this problem does not arise because the knowledge is not embodied in text, which everybody can access, but in the bets, which one makes. This could potentially be a huge advantage compared to most of the text-based knowledge management and innovation tools out there.

Next, Oliver from our U.S. subsidiary gave a presentation on 14th Oct. in Orlando, Florida. This was IBF’s Supply Chain Planning & Forecasting Conference. The focus there was more on forecasting of hard demand numbers. We presented an approach how companies could benefit from connecting their employees with Prediction Markets to arrive at mutually beneficial forecasts, reducing costs for everybody in the supply chain. In fact, we are quite excited about this approach and if we succeed to get a number of firms on board of such a Prediction Market Panel, we would be the first Prediction Market company worldwide to have achieved this. Keep your fingers crossed!

Finally, last week on 16th Oct we had a great presentation at the National Conference for Market Research in Warsaw. This is the largest market research conference in Poland and we were invited to present Prediction Markets in the “new methods” track. We enjoyed the time in Warsaw a lot and made a number of great contacts. We were also happy when we learned that our presentation won the 3rd place for best presentation (out of 54 official presentations). Thank you to everybody who voted for us!
Next month we have already the next conference coming up. X-Organisations, this time in Berlin. So we’re looking forward to meeting your there!
